Takeaway: If it is possible to have a bull-bear debate in health policy, this is it. Hedgeye President Michael Blum & I debated the US response.

Replay | Is Eradication of SARS-CoV-2 Virus Possible? Or Even Necessary? - 20200728 COVID Call W M Blum

Hedgeye President, Michael Blum and I have had a months long debate about the US response to the spread of SARS-CoV-2 and the COVID-19 outbreak. We put it on camera yesterday. Michael took the "bull" side of the argument that says the lockdown of national economies was necessary for long-run economic vitality. He also made the point, and I thoroughly agree, that concise and clear communication about the threat and the necessary response was a major factor in eradication of infection and disease. I took the view that lockdown measures, after about mid-May have been ineffective. States with limited interventions were having similar experiences with infection and disease as states that were quite aggressive.
