The Administration continues to pursue an agenda to rein in big tech, but the FTC and the Justice Department have had limited success while suffering notable setbacks.  Heading into the final quarter of the year, the Administration will remain vigilant against dominant platforms, but prospects for success are highly uncertain as the DoJ goes to court in the Google search monopolization case and the FTC preps an imminent antitrust lawsuit against Amazon.

We'll highlight several major policy investment themes of critical importance to tech and media investors.

  • Will rising regulatory concerns about tech leadership in AI alter the market growth trajectory of the leading cloud service platforms (AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud)?
  • Published estimates suggest Google pays Apple around $20 billion to remain the default search engine on Apple devices.  Will the Justice Department outlaw such payments?  Can Microsoft search benefit?
  • Can the FTC present a credible antitrust case that could undermine Amazon's position as the dominant e-commerce platform?
  • Does the current antitrust enforcement regime foreclose consolidation prospects in the video streaming market?
  • Will the Supreme Court strike down state laws limiting the discretion of social media to moderate content on their platforms?
  • What's the latest in the ongoing battle over a potential TikTok ban?
  • Is Microsoft on track to win UK approval of its Activision Blizzard acquisition before expiration of the current merger agreement?

We'll keep the discussion tight and focused, perhaps 30-45 minutes.  We're happy to answer any TMT policy questions you may have.
