In this clip from The Call @ Hedgeye, Communications analyst Andrew Freedman highlights big headwinds facing Hollywood right now, including the impact the writers and actors’ strikes are having on Netflix (NFLX) and the entertainment industry as a whole.

“All the media companies are experiencing their worst financials in years. Cord cutting is accelerating, streaming’s on the rise—but not yet profitable, the advertising market still has yet to recover,” Freedman says.

“At the same time, these contracts are coming up for negotiation and nobody has any degree of confidence on what the future state’s going to be. And then you throw the artificial intelligence (AI) threat into the mix.”
