Takeaway: This deal is getting done. Just like Glenchur said.

In this clip from The Call @ Hedgeye on February 1, 2022, Hedgeye's Telecom-Media Policy analyst Paul Glenchur flagged the announcement that the Federal Trade Commission would get to review the Microsoft (MSFT) acquisition of Activision Blizzard (ATVI), while questioning what kind of enforcement challenges the FTC will bring.

“They’re very aggressive with it and the Department of Justice is too,” explains Glenchur. “We think basically, as big as the Activision deal is at $68 billion or so, it probably under existing precedent ought to go through.”

“The question will be, what kind of enforcements challenges do they want to bring. Do they want to “tilt at windmills” and hope that they can create new precedents, or actually create adverse precedence for their agenda? That’s what they’re going to have to all assess as they look through this.”

Glenchur has consistently maintained since the original announcement that Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard would ultimately get approved.
