On Thursday, we will be hosting our monthly Q&A plus industry trends call to highlight how pricing and traffic drive sales across North America's adult-use and medical cannabis market. During our call, we will highlight the entire U.S. and Canadian cannabis markets and be taking questions about the industry and our position monitor.

State Legalization polls.

South Dakota ballot polls are indicating that the effort to legalize cannabis in the state is trailing where they need to be. The survey from KELOLAND News, Emerson College and The Hill released on Tuesday shows that 51 percent of South Dakotans plan to vote against the legalization measure next month, while 40 percent said they’ll be supporting it and 10 percent remain undecided. Top cannabis activists in the state are calling out "Big Cannabis" for spending their money on D.C. lobbyists while state initiatives are struggling to secure resources. “The future of cannabis reform ballot initiatives is going to be 100 percent industry-funded,” said Matthew Schweich (SDBML Director). “I’m deeply frustrated with the biggest cannabis companies in this country, who have been wasting their money on D.C. lobbyists and have achieved virtually nothing. Meanwhile, state-level reforms are starving even though all our progress has been at the state level.” Let's hope the poll is wrong here and election day shows us some light in this industry. marijuanamoment.net

Movement from Germany.

Last week, a potential cannabis legalization bill for Germany was leaked to the media. Today, Germany’s federal cabinet reportedly approved a proposal from the health ministry to legalize the purchase and possession of small amounts of cannabis for recreational use as well as its sale and production. This proposal would allow individuals to possess up to 30 grams of adult-use cannabis. Individuals will also be allowed to grow up to three cannabis plants. There are reports that Germany is also looking into regulating the amount of THC allowed in cannabis products. Health Minister Karl Lauterbach did not give a timeline for the plan, which would make Germany the second European Union country to legalize adult-use cannabis after Malta.
