Doordash
DoorDash appears to be going further up the supply chain, brokering deals between suppliers and its restaurant merchants. The DoorDash Supply Chain program calls itself a B2B Marketplace built exclusively for restaurants on DoorDash. Suppliers include ThisElement sustainable packaging, SAVRpak moisture-absorbing packs for fries, Phoenix-based Willie Itule Produce, and pre-marinated protein purveyor Ace Foods. The initiative is in its early phases as evidenced by its Google Form.
Amazon is moving into breakfast.
According to our friends at HNGRY, if Amazon gets its way, you'll be stopping at one of its Go stores on one of your return-to-office commutes for a Starbucks espresso and an Amazon Kitchen-branded bacon egg and cheese. When it's time to unwind after a long day of work, come back in for a curated selection of wine, beers, and spirits. Grab it like you stole it. Last week, HNGRY checked out the second suburban format Amazon Go location just outside of LA in Whittier, CA. The first deployment was in the Seattle suburb of Mill Creek, Washington in May. Over the next few months, the online retail giant will be opening up a handful more Go convenience stores with Just Walk Out tech about one mile from existing Amazon Fresh stores. Unlike Fresh, the tech is designed to create a frictionless, checkout-free in-store shopping experience rather than optimize for pickup or delivery.
