C'mon white house!

On Friday, the Biden administration hinted that they will not make any moves on cannabis reform before the midterm with their press secretary saying, "I don’t have anything else to share in the upcoming weeks” when she was asked about other Democrats’ push for cannabis action by the administration. The press secretary continues to harp on the administration's stance: leave adult-use legalization to the states, reschedule marijuana, federally decriminalize the plant and expunge prior records. Adult-use legalization has taken steps forward with many states putting this reform on their ballots but the other 2-3 points need help from the administration, which hasn't happened even in the slightest since this administration has taken office. marijuanamoment.net

Trulieve Cannabis Corp. (TCNNF) announced on Friday the opening of their first Trulieve branded dispensary in Tuscan, Arizona. Harvest Health & Recreation was Arizona's largest cannabis retailer and over the course of the next year, they will rebrand to the Trulieve family. The grand opening for their Tucson dispensary is scheduled for Saturday, September 17th. "We are excited to add a third location in Tucson, the state's second largest market," said Trulieve Chief Executive Officer Kim Rivers. "We look forward to expanding our reach to serve the community with our high quality products and customer centric approach to cannabis."

Changes in Massachusetts.

Massachusetts’ governor recently signed sweeping legislation focused on promoting diversity and equity in the state’s $2 billion marijuana industry. The marijuana-focused law covers a broad range of issues, from creating a Social Equity Trust Fund to help entrepreneurs raise capital to keeping a lid on the controversial fees levied by municipalities on local cannabis businesses. The reform package also allows municipalities to pass bylaws or to vote on whether to allow cannabis consumption lounges as well as permitting businesses to open such venues in localities previously approved through a pilot program. Who knows what the impact will be for the Massachusetts cannabis market especially considering it has been fully open for over 2 years, but at a bare minimum it will be a good outline and exercise for states looking to legalize cannabis. mjbizdaily.com
