Takeaway: The hunt is on - opening up our idea vetting process. This time we'll look at freight costs, apparel import trends, and short timing.

We’re at our next iteration of our new ‘Retail Idea Hunt’ call series, which will take place the first week of every month in 2021.

Today (Thursday, July 1st) at 12:30pm, we’ll spend some time talking about inflationary pressures and specifically freight costs/disruptions including some recent developments. We’ll also review the cadence of apparel imports matching up potential inventory flow how that might play into margins.  We’ll then also spend a few minutes on how we’re thinking about short timing and targeting for the moment to be less bullish retail.  Lastly as always we’ll hit on some recent ideas on some tickers we’re vetting in a ‘speed dating’ format.

Tickers will include: NKE, SFIX, BNED, DLTR, PLCE, LB, LOVE, HIBB, ASO and more.

All-in, we plan on hitting on 10+ tickers over 45 minutes max, focusing on the key critical modeling and sentiment uncertainties for each name.
