Green Thumb & Verano

Verano completes RTO.  Verano (profitable since inception) is a leading vertically-integrated multi-state cannabis operator in the U.S.  The Company’s portfolio encompasses 12 U.S. States, with active operations in nine, including 23 active retail locations and approximately 440,000 square feet across its six cultivation facilities. Verano produces a full suite of premium, artisanal cannabis products sold under its trusted portfolio of consumer brands: Encore, Avexia, and Verano. Verano designs and operates inimitable Zen Leaf branded dispensary environments that deliver a superior cannabis shopping experience in both medical and adult-use markets.  Interestingly, Green Thumb Industries and Verano Holdings have quietly joined forces to operate two dispensaries in their home state of Illinois.  Government records show that both companies' subsidiaries are the registered managers of a shell company that manages NH Medicinal Dispensaries, which holds retail licenses for Rise in Effingham and Zen Leaf in Charleston.  Green Thumb spokeswoman Linda Marsicano said that the two recreational and medical marijuana stores count toward each company’s 10-store cap in Illinois.

South Dakota delays

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem is delaying implementing the voter-approved medical cannabis law by one year – until July 1, 2022 – because of the “feasibility” of getting the program up and running. In a letter to officials, CPPC estimated it would take between 14 and 20 months to implement an “effective, sustainable, and functioning medical marijuana system, without any existing licensing system, while balancing the need for patient access to safe marijuana with the need for public safety, preventing underage use and divergence into the illicit market.” he recreational measure was approved by voters last November 53% to 47% while the medical reforms passed 70% to 30%.
