SOME OF THE MACRO TOPICS DISCUSSED INCLUDE:

  • An update on crucial Biden Administration officials and how it may impact the cannabis industry.  Democrats will have a shot at deploying reconciliation, the powerful budget tool this year after winning a narrow majority in the Senate. Reconciliation presents Democrats with an opportunity to pump billions of dollars into the economy and reshape social policies.  How will cannabis reform be inserted early into the next "Cares Act?"
  • Will we see cannabis reform in the "first 100 days?"
  • While limited in how often they can use reconciliation and what it can be used for, Democrats will have as many as three tries. There's precedent for using it twice in a single year — Republicans deployed reconciliation in 2017 in an unsuccessful attempt to repeal most of Obamacare and then later to successfully pass their massive tax overhaul.  How exactly Democrats will use the budget procedure remains to be seen; coronavirus relief, health care expansion, infrastructure investments, and clean energy are all on the table.
  • Which states are likely contenders for legalization in 2021 (the list seems to grow daily).
  • A ranking of essential cannabis (Medical & Recreational) states, including current sales trends.
