The COVID-19 public health emergency has provoked a response and, some would argue, a very high quality excuse to advance a number of policies that favor home care over SNFs. As part of our effort to "learn out loud," we asked Amedisys (AMED) President and CEO, Paul Kusserow to share the company's experience during COVID, discuss how best to leverage technology and the role Medicare Advantage plans will play in a shift away from institutional care.

About Paul Kusserow. Mr. Kusserow, a healthcare industry veteran with deep expertise in driving growth strategies, previously served as President and Vice Chairman of Alignment Healthcare, Inc., an integrated clinical care company focused on providing care to the Medicare population. Prior to that, he served for five years as Senior Vice President, Chief Strategy, Innovations and Corporate Development Officer of Humana, Inc., a Fortune 75 healthcare services and benefits company.
Mr. Kusserow’s experience also includes time as Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer of the Ziegler HealthVest Fund; Managing Director of San Ysidro Capital Partners, L.L.C.; and Managing Partner of Roaring Mountain, L.L.C. He began his healthcare career with Tenet Healthcare Corporation, one of the nation’s largest investor-owned healthcare service companies, where he spent seven years, the last four as Senior Vice President of Strategy and Ventures. He began his career as a management consultant at McKinsey and Company, Inc.
Mr. Kusserow is on the board of directors of Picwell, Oak Street Health and Matrix Medical Network.
