Takeaway: Please join our Chief Political Strategist, JT Taylor, Tom & me as we break down the major catalysts in an unprecedented time

Call Invite:Tomorrow at 2pm ET | COVID-19's Spread & Response & The Future of the Political Economy - 20200609 COVID 19 Update w JT

Protecting public health is foundational for US governments, particularly at the state and local government level.  Yet, most governments were caught unprepared for the political, economic and social effects of COVID-19's spread and response. Chief Political Strategist, JT Taylor, Tom Tobin and I will discuss how COVID-19 will affect American politics and its economy in 2020 and beyond:

  • The catalyst calendar is chock-full of earth moving events; the end of enhanced UI, national party conventions in August, state and local budget austerity measures, employment data, a potential Stimulus IV, hardening polls, GDP data, vaccine development, reopening plans and an unpredictable president. We will go through major events and likely outcomes.
  • In the midst of those major catalysts is the imperative for revisions to forward estimates in light of greater economic clarity
  • The spread and containment of COVID-19 has altered how candidates campaign and what they say, we will discuss the changing presidential dynamic and what it means to the White House and Senate races in 2020 and beyond as well as big ticket legislation like Medicare for All.
  • The impact of COVID-19 on states and even communities within those states has been different. We will look at the potential political implications from the disparate impact of disease on economies and people of color.
  • The jobs number last week was cited by Steve Moore as a need to delay additional stimulus. However, other advisors disagree. JT will offer his insight on what disease abatement and containment has on timing and content.
  • The varying responses and outcomes in states and cities seems to offer a political opening for opposition parties as managerial competency is highlighted. JT and I will discuss what the trickle-down effects might be on politics in major COVID-19 hotspots especially in a time of unrest.
