THIS WEEK:

  • The House and Senate are in session.
  • The House and Senate are expected to vote on the tax Conference Report and send the final package to the president's desk by Wednesday.
  • Congress is also expected to vote on another spending extension before funding runs out Friday.
  • The net neutrality fight heads to the courts as Senate Democrats threaten to force a vote using the Congressional Review Act (CRA).

MONDAY, DECEMBER 18:

  • Trump is expected to make an “America First” policy announcement where he is expected to accuse China of "economic aggression."
  • The House Committee on Rules will hold a hearing at 5:00 PM on H.R. 3312 Systemic Risk Designation Improvement Act of 2017 and the Conference Report to accompany H.R. 1 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
  • House Republicans will meet tonight on tax reform.
  • The Senate will vote on the nominations of Owen West, Assistant Secretary of Defense and J. Paul Compton, General Counsel for the Department of Housing and Urban Development at 5:30 PM.

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 19:

  • House Republicans will meet Tuesday morning on tax reform.
  • The House will vote on the final tax package.
  • The House Committee on Rules will hold a hearing on the Senate Amendment to the Department of Homeland Security Blue Campaign Authorization Act of 2017 at 3:00 PM.
  • The Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee will consider the nominations of former Rep. Scott Garrett (R-NJ) to be the president of the EX-IM bank as well as all other EX-IM board members at 10:00 AM.
  • The Senate Foreign Relations Committee will consider nominations at 2:00 PM.
  • The Senate Rules and Administration Committee will hold a hearing on improving nomination procedures at 2:30 PM.

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 20:

  • The president is expected to sign the tax package into law.

  • Government funding will expire Friday if not addressed.
  • Congress will leave for Christmas break.
