TECH, TECH, TECH – We’ve been bullish on Tech for all of 2017. The reality of the +30.5% YTD Nasdaq 100 beat-down of the bears is that earnings growth has been a major market catalyst – and corporate earnings growth is black and white. So far in Q3 earnings growth has come in at +26% YY for S&P 500 constituents within the information technology sector. Earnings have beat estimates by +11.8% in Q3 (+3.9% is the 5yr average beat rate)! This widely divergent “print” vs. “expectations” trend has been consistent in all 3 quarters this year. The difficult comps will come, but for now we’re basking in the growth accelerating sun.
