- President Trump will meet with Singapore’s Prime Minister.
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 24:
- President Trump will have lunch with Senate Republicans.
- The Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs will consider the nominations of David J. Ryder, of New Jersey, to be Director of the Mint, Department of the Treasury, and Hester Maria Peirce, of Ohio, and Robert J. Jackson, Jr., of New York, both to be Members of the Securities and Exchange Commission at 10:00AM.
- The Senate Finance Committee will consider the nomination of Kevin K. McAleenan, of Hawaii, to be Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Department of Homeland Security at 10:00AM.
- The House Financial Services Committee is holding a hearing on “The Federal Government’s Role in the Insurance Industry” at 10:00AM.
- The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform is having a regulatory reform check-in with their task force at 10:00AM.
- The House Energy and Commerce Committee will examine the Department of Health and Human Services preparedness for and response to the 2017 hurricane season at 10:00AM.
- The House Committee on Rules will hold a hearing on the Senate amendment to H. Con. Res. 71, “concurrent resolution establishing the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2018 and setting forth the appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2019 through 2027” at 3:00PM.
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 25:
- The Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation will examine the commercial satellite industry at 10:00AM.
- The Joint Economic Committee will examine “The Future of American Economic Growth” at 10:00AM.
- The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee will consider the nominations of Jeff Tien Han Pon, of Virginia, to be Director, and Michael Rigas, of Massachusetts, to be Deputy Director, both of the Office of Personnel Management, and Emily Webster Murphy, of Missouri, to be Administrator of General Services.
- The House Committee on Foreign Affairs is holding a hearing at 10:00AM on the next steps after the president’s Iran decision.
- The House Committee on Energy and Commerce is holding a hearing on the Federal effort to combat the opioid crisis at 10:00AM. The Committee will also examine oversight of the Federal Communications Commission at 2:00PM.
- The House Financial Services Committee is holding a hearing on housing finance reform at 10:00AM. The Committee will also examine the Equifax breach at 2:00PM.
- The House Ways and Means Committee will hold a hearing on a bill providing tariff relief to U.S. manufacturers at 2:00PM.
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 26:
- President Trump is expected to give a speech on the opioid crisis.
- The Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee will consider the nominations of Brian D. Montgomery, of Texas, Robert Hunter Kurtz, of Virginia, and Suzanne Israel Tufts, of New York, each to be an Assistant Secretary of Housing and Urban Development at 10:00AM.
- The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee is holding a hearing to examine advancing security and grid infrastructure at 10:00AM.
- The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee will examine improving oversight of the regulatory process, focusing on lessons from state legislatures at 10:00AM.
- The Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee will examine free speech on college campuses at 10:00AM.
- The Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee will examine strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem for women at 10:30AM.
- The House Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing on oversight of the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program at 9:00AM.
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 27:
- President Trump could announce his Fed Chair decision as early as this Friday.
- The Senate is expected to take up the Congressional Review Act motion that would eliminate the CFPB’s arbitration rule this week.
