The mortality picture is no clearer after the April 6 update. Excess deaths persist despite available vaccinations, therapeutics and medical experience. The catch-all "signs, symptoms and abnormal clinical laboratory findings" have been revised downward as these deaths are reclassified. Death in younger cohorts also remains elevated with only the 85 and over group behaving close to baseline.
