Is cannabis use a substitute for Alcohol?

Since coming online in Massachusetts in November 2018, gross total sales have now reached $2.54 billion, according to the Cannabis Control Commission (CCC) data. Excise taxes levied on both Alcohol, and marijuana shows alcohol excise taxes have increased slightly in the past five fiscal years. Thus the data suggest that cannabis is not a substitute for Alcohol. The benefit to the state is the tax revenue and why more states are looking to go rec. Massachusetts has collected $51.3 million in alcohol excise taxes in the current fiscal year, and marijuana excise taxes have exceeded Alcohols. The state has collected $74.2 million in MJ taxes
