Takeaway: Next Thursday we’ll be hosting a call to review the key themes for retail and the most actionable tickers as we head into 1Q 2022.

On Thursday January 6th at 12:30pm EST we’ll be hosting a call on key retail themes as we head into 2022.  After a strong year for most of 2021, the market has clearly become incrementally negative on consumer discretionary in the last month and a half as consumer faces tough compares and a uncertain “post” Covid environment.  During our call we’ll parse out where we see the opportunities both long and short side and where there might be unappreciated risks.  Some topics will include brick and mortar vs ecommerce trends, apparel import and price trends for a read on margin reversion risk, high level data on the auto cycle, and data points around housing and why we think home is poised for a soft landing.

Then as always we’ll spend time hitting on ideas highlighting the tickers we think are most actionable on the long side and the short side as well as flagging some new ideas and notable conviction changes.

We plan to hold this call at the start of each calendar quarter in 2022.
