Takeaway: Much of the innovation we see emerging in the venture space addresses important but pre-COVID trends; what about post-COVID?

Call Tomorrow@ 10am ET | Venture's View: Innovation for COVID Challenges w/Marcus Whitney - Health Care Employment

As a sequela to our discussion last week with the incomparable Matthew Holt, Marcus Whitney and I are going to examine some of the macro challenges of health care including labor shortages, inflation and supply chain disruption as well as their offspring, low throughput, increased acuity and payer pressures. There is, admittedly, a lot of money pouring into innovative responses but many of the emerging companies, plus unicorns and SPACs are solving problems well known before the pandemic: flaws in fee-for-service systems, deeply ineffective clinical trials regime, and demands for convenience and service as demographics shift.

COVID-19's new set of challenges are more urgent, potentially more costly and demand unique responses. As demonstrated by earnings commentary, some industry leaders are moving quickly to solve these problems themselves. Others are leveraging their venture and strategic funds. Please join Marcus and I for our monthly Venture's View as we sort through various responses and how they will integrate with pre-COVID trends.
