The exodus from high-tax states like New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Illinois continues.

This migration is having a significant impact on the housing market nationally, according to Hedgeye Housing analyst Josh Steiner.

“For the most part, the states that lost the most people in 2018 continue to lose the most people in 2019,” Steiner explains. “The trends are pretty consistent. New York, New Jersey and Connecticut have been 'donor states' for a while.”
