Several forces seem to be working against a potential merger between AT&T and Time Warner, but a deal between the two media giants is still likely to get done.

That’s according to Hedgeye Telecommunications & Media Policy analyst Paul Glenchur. He explains his latest thinking regarding the merger in the detailed video below.

Antitrust violation has been a concern of democratic legislators, but as Glenchur says:

“The burden of proof remains with the DOJ to demonstrate the transaction would impose significant harm on consumers.”

Adding yet another wrinkle to this complicated story is President Trump’s ongoing grudge against Time Warner-owned CNN. Court deliberations begin March 19th.
