Join us for a call to preview the May 25 OPEC meeting in Vienna with Chakib Khelil, former OPEC President and former Algerian Energy Minister.

Leading the agenda at the meeting is a decision whether or not to extend the production cut agreement thru the rest of 2017. As we wrote in a note on Monday, OPEC appears to be floating a 9-month extension into 2018 instead of just renewing the current 6-month extension. Other media reports have suggested that OPEC may be considering deeper cuts - all in an effort to change the over-supply narrative.

Minister Khelil will take us inside the OPEC decision making process and discuss the following topics:

  • His and OPEC’s view of current market conditions;
  • Will Russia and other non-OPEC producers agree to renew their pledges and for how long;
  • Role of Iran and Iraq;
  • Outlook for Libya production and political situation; and
  • Preview action OPEC will take at the next meeting and beyond.

The call will be hosted by Hedgeye Senior Energy Policy Analyst Joe McMonigle who will also be attending the next OPEC meeting.
