Managed Care Organizations have been reliable performers, consistent with their status as functional government contractors. Major areas of concern have been the government rate and regulatory requirements. Due to the profligacy of the drug channel, low/no premium plans have been the norm in Medicare Advantage while commercial plans have struggled with costs. ACA Marketplace plans have had little influence.
Now these standard operating assumptions are getting tossed out the window, but not all at once and not exactly for the worse.
