In this clip from The Macro Show today, Industrials analyst Jay Van Sciver explains why consumers are more likely to opt for other brands when choosing an electric vehicle. Recent data shows that Tesla may be relinquishing its reign as the supreme electric automaker in the market.

“What we are seeing is a deterioration of EV brand differentiation,” says Van Sciver. “If you had a Rivian truck, that would still be pretty cool… You’re seeing a breakdown of what used to be a Tesla-only field.”.

“People confuse the stock price, the company, and the product, all of which are distinct… If you don’t think you’re in a liquidity driven stock, I can’t help you. That is just typical speculative excess.”
