Vaccine Deployment Marches Forward - 11.09.2020 vaccine cartoon

From our seat, getting to 100MM doses of COVID-19 vaccines delivered will take ~90 days. It’s early, and we just have Pfizer’s/BioNTech’s and Moderna’s vaccines approved, so this forecast will change if/when there’s an incremental option (will it be JNJ’s in late January?).

An end of March target seems reasonable, as there haven’t been material issues as of yet, and over 2MM doses have now been administered through 12/28 (over the Holidays). We’ll be updating this as data are released:

One thing that we’re certain of: there’s a lot of pent-up demand for medical care/visits.

The CDC updated the laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 hospitalization data yesterday through 12/19, and it looks like cumulative hospitalizations per 100k (now at 313/100k overall and over 900/100k for the 65+ demographic) is decelerating, finally, as the weekly data improve.

See below for the graphics, but weekly hospitalizations are down to 11.1/100k overall and in the 65+ demographic, it's 38.4/100k (vs. 53/100k as of 12/12), a marked improvement ahead of the Christmas weekend.
