Chanos, the founder of Kynikos Associates, covered a ton of ground. Regarding current market froth, he believes, “Things are getting sillier and sillier and sillier.”

When it comes to the current polarizing economic/political climate he said, “There’s a system for the corporate class and financial class. And then there’s a system for everybody else. It gets back to the tail risk. Torches and pitchforks are undervalued.”

The grand finale of this Hedgeye Investing Summit belonged to outspoken hedge fund manager Mike Taylor. A former virologist himself, he offered a ton of useful insight on Covid19, vaccines, and what it all means for investors going forward. "We have 5 vaccines that will readout by January,” he told Keith McCullough. “I think that the vaccines are going to be very successful. That’s going to change everything."

He added “the trade from there is long garbage. Garbage meaning Carnival Cruise Lines (CCL), Dave & Busters (PLAY), Cheesecake Factory (CAKE), Gaming, Leisure and Hotels.”

"We’re in a debt trap,” cautioned Mauldin. “That's when debt gets so large, it slows down growth. The policy response involves borrowing more money and you get a short-term boost. But you’ve increased debt, so growth falls even more."
