The Hedgeye Preparedness Score. Now that the CDC is providing data on two additional key metrics for pandemic preparedness, we have added them to our Hedgeye Preparedness Score bringing it up to a 10-point scale. These two additional metrics are inpatient hospital occupancy and ICU occupancy.
All of these metrics reflect what states are using, albeit with some variability and with different emphasis. Thus far, with the exception of Georgia, states are proceeding with the relaxation of restrictions on commerce and assembly in line with what the scoring system suggests.
Note that data is captured on a "flu week" basis - the CDC preferred method for collecting and comparing data. A flu week runs from Sunday to Saturday. Data on Influenza-like Illness (and eventually COVID-like Illness) is provided on a two week lag. The most recent flu week data reported was Friday for the week (week 18) ending May 2. All other data is available on a daily basis from non-CDC sources. The hospital and ICU occupancy data is available daily from the CDC.
