Thanks to an astute listener, I learned that I underestimated the degree of under-counting by COVID-19 testing in the United States by a factor of ten. On March 18, instead of five new cases we don't know about for every one we do, there were FIFTY new cases we didn't know about for every one we do. See chart above.
