In this latest issue of my weekly podcast, I catch up on financial markets and put last week's +244K NFP employment number in perspective. Is the economy speeding up? No, it's still decelerating. President Trump, like a die-hard Keynesian or like the mercantilists of yore, now believes every problem facing the economy is a failure-of-demand problem. Even when that's clearly not the case. I catch us up on the 2020 Democratic race and ask the question: How long before the also-rans like Hickenlooper and Bullock go back to their home states and try to help the Democrats take the Senate? My big story, finally, is the Sunday's national election in Greece, which saw New Democracy's Kyriakos Mitsotakis unseat Syriza's Alexis Tsipras. Greece, alas, is a ruined country with no real end to its woes in sight. What lessons should Greece hold for other European leaders, like Matteo Salvini in Italy or (looking ahead) Boris Johnson in the UK?
