FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
STAMFORD, Conn., March 6, 2019 -- Hedgeye Risk Management, a leading independent investment research and online financial media firm, announced today that analyst Andrew Freedman, CFA, has been named the Sector Head of Hedgeye’s new Communications sector.
His coverage universe will include industry titans such as Netflix, Facebook, Google, Disney, CBS, Verizon, AT&T, Comcast, as well as smaller players in the space including Live Nation Entertainment, Roku, Discovery Communications, AMC Networks and Altice USA.
Freedman will be reviewing the short case on Netflix (NFLX) during his first “Black Book” for institutional investors on March 22. He believes “investors have become increasingly complacent as the streaming wars escalate” and will explain why significant downside may lie ahead for its shares.
“I’m incredibly excited to announce our new Communications Sector Research launch with Andrew Freedman at the helm,” said Hedgeye CEO Keith McCullough. “Over the years, we’ve assembled an impressive team of independent research analysts here at Hedgeye—Andrew has proven himself since he started here five years ago, and is one of the sharpest analysts I’ve been fortunate to work with. The quality and depth of his research insight is as compelling as any we’ve ever had.”
Freedman has nearly a decade of experience in financial markets and investments. Before joining Hedgeye in 2014, he worked for an institutional consulting firm where he was responsible for client asset allocation, investment manager due-diligence and equity research.
Andrew is a CFA® charterholder and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Marquette University in Finance and Business Economics. In addition, he holds Senior Analyst responsibilities on the Health Care Team where he specializes in Information Technology.
"Andrew is an excellent analyst who brings a wide array of valuable analytical tools to the table," said Daryl Jones, Director of Research at Hedgeye. "As the Communications sector continues its rapid evolution in the coming years, Andrew’s insight and expertise will be critical to our strategy and success in this space."
