Takeaway: This is a remarkable statistic that has renowned demographer Neil Howe worried.

America’s workforce has a massive problem looming on the horizon, according to Hedgeye Demography analyst Neil Howe.

Looking at the absolute annual growth in the working-age population, the U.S. is headed for a slowdown unlike anything seen since the post-Civil War Reconstruction era of the 1870’s.

It’s a remarkable statistic that has Howe worried.

He predicts that growth will slow even further into the early 2020’s as more Boomers retire.
