It pains me to waste any real estate on this.
But re this Ackman/Nike thing. It’ll get press…well…because it will.
Reality check:
- Activism here is near impossible
- Getting a Nike board seat – EVER – simply won’t happen
- Phil Knight owns 75% of the Board and they don’t like outsiders ‘advice’
In the end, this sounds like a good ‘ol boring long by Pershing.
Fortunately for Ackman, this is the one that’ll actually make him some money.
The longer-term TAIL call here is one of the best in retail, and the intermediate-term TREND call is getting better on the margin.
