FIRST AND GOAL FOR RYAN AND MCCONNELL: NEXT STOP END ZONE

12/17/17 03:22PM EST

The House filed the conference report papers late Friday afternoon. In a last-minute switch over the weekend, the House will vote on the conference report by midday on Tuesday. The Senate will follow beginning after the usual Tuesday policy lunches with Majority Leader Mitch McConnell aiming to finish Tuesday as well. This should set the stage for a White House signing ceremony before the end of the week.

The Byrd bath resulted in one major change and several minor changes. The major change was to remove language eliminating the Johnson amendment passed in the 1960’s. That law says preachers could not take political positions from the pulpit.  None of the sections removed by the Byrd bath made significant financial changes in the bill.

Below are links to the documents filed in the House and prepared by Republican staff to explain the conference report. Also included is the JCT ANALYSIS HERE.
