What will the future of America’s healthcare system look like?

That’s the question at the heart of Health:Further Festival. In the video above, Hedgeye Potomac Healthcare Policy analyst Emily Evans sits down with CEO and Co-Founder of Health:Further Marcus Whitney to preview what will be discussed at the highly-anticipated four-day confab to be held in Nashville, Tennessee from August 22 to August 25.

“We’ve structured the festival to be a journey,” Whitney says. “So we start with the most disruptive and inspiring thinking in a consumer summit that will be held at the Country Music Hall of Fame.” The end of the festival will include an investor summit focusing primarily on the future of hospitals. This hotly-debated topic in particular should be at the top of any healthcare investors’ radar in the years to come.

“In the rural communities, the simple math of healthcare is much tougher than in urban communities,” says Evans. “If you’re looking for the future of healthcare you’re probably aren’t supposed to look in New York City or even Nashville. You should be looking in Maryville, Tennessee or Uvalde, Texas.”

“There’s not enough innovation in those communities,” Whitney agrees. “And there is a massive opportunity to innovate around Medicaid.”

The video above is a thoughtful preview of myriad issues to be discussed at the conference.
