REPLAY - OPEC MEETING PREVIEW CALL WITH FORMER OPEC PRESIDENT & FORMER ALGERIAN OIL MINISTER - Slide1

We covered a lot of ground during the 40 minute call including OPEC's big upcoming decision in two weeks whether or not to extend the production cut agreement thru the rest of 2017. We also discussed the possibilities of surprises at the next meeting including: a 9-month extension into 2018; deeper production cuts; and perhaps even lifting the cuts altogether to try to tame US shale.

Other topics Minister Khelil discussed included the following topics:

  • His and OPEC’s view of current market conditions;
  • Will Russia and other non-OPEC producers agree to renew their pledges and for how long;
  • Role of Iran and Iraq;
  • Outlook for Libya production and political situation; and
  • Preview action OPEC will take at the next meeting and beyond.
