Trump Energy Policy: Keystone Pipeline Approved… What’s Next

President Donald Trump’s energy agenda is taking shape and with a lightning quickness. In his first week in office, Trump signed 12 executive orders and Presidential memorandums, one of which would re-open negotiations with the operators of the Keystone and Dakota Access oil pipelines. 

It was the first step in rolling back Obama’s energy policies. Expect more to come.

In the video above, Hedgeye Senior Energy analyst Joe McMonigle explains why lifting the moratorium of coal leasing on Federal land and liquid natural gas exports are next on the agenda. “I do think these are two areas where you could see swift executive action as well," McMonigle says.

Both had been stymied under President Obama, but will now get a shot in the arm under Trump, especially once nominee Ryan Zinke is approved to his post of the Interior Department.
