In the telecom and media business, publically-traded companies and politicians largely side with one another along sector and party lines, says Senior Policy Telecom analyst Paul Glenchur.

  • Republicans favor network providers like Comcast (CMSA), Charter (CHTR), AT&T (T) and Verizon (V)
  • Democrats favor Silicon Valley types like Google (GOOG), Facebook (FB) and Netflix (NFLX).

Glenchur covers a number of issues underappreciated by investors including:

  • Will the Supreme Court hear an appeal on net neutrality rules which will affect companies like Comcast, Charter, AT&T, Verizon
  • Considerations for wireless network providers and their 5G Network build-out
  • Whether the Obama administration’s toughness on approving mergers & acquisitions will continue into the next administration

Glenchur also weighs in on why he thinks, under a Clinton administration, Congress would move to appoint Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court.
