“We have a working age population growth rate which is next to zero,” reveals Demography analyst and bestselling author Neil Howe on The Macro Show. Howe discusses the factors contributing to this drop in the workforce, and why the CBO predicts declining population growth.
“We have never experienced this before in American history,” says Howe. “A lot of this is boomers retiring, and also a very small generation moving into the working age population.”
The CBO 2050 total population projection has declined 8.33% from 2016 to 2021. “A lot of that is declining fertility projections.”
