In this clip from The Call @ Hedgeye, Financials analyst Josh Steiner updates on inflation data and international PPI & CPI numbers, while discussing the lack of urgency within Fed policy to combat inflation.

“I think that our framework has basically been that inflation is going to remain very strong here through Q4 and probably continue at a very elevated rate through the first quarter,” notes Steiner. “You’re not going to see things cool off until the second quarter of next year, and that’s largely going to be a base effect drive dynamic.”

“I don’t think that, even in light of yesterday’s data, [the Fed] is going to go back and revisit that anytime soon. What you are seeing is sort of a doubling down (at least on the Treasury side with Yellen), coming out and brushing these inflation numbers off.”
