Hedgeye CEO Keith McCullough is hosting weekly “HedgEye On The Prize” investor coaching sessions. Watch Keith dissect the contest leaderboard, analyze the market set-up of top contest participant holdings and invite contest participants to join us live and share their experiences.

This is must-see TV for any investor looking to take their investing to the next level. (Watch the rest of our investor coaching sessions here.)

Some highlights from Keith's second coaching session comments below:

  • “Your starting points should’ve been: on the country level on the short side, China. At the country level on the long side, U.S.A. At the sector levels in the U.S., you know what sectors you want to be to long and short side [in #Quad2] too. That should be, or at least with me, that’s my principal orientation. Where is the highest probability?”
  • "In terms of selection, where do you start? Have a North Star. Our North Star at the biggest macro level is at the country level. We have two countries we don not like at all which are China and South Korea. There are no South Korea tickers. So now you are down to one place that is the happiest hunting ground.
  • "Don't do feelings. If it's down at the low end of the range, buy it. If it's at the top end of the range and it's one of your biggest winners, sell some. That's a real easy way to fade your feelings."
  • "During a Growth slowdown, small cap, levered, high beta, high short interest stocks are not where you want to be. If we started The Prize on July 1st or or July 8th for that matter, this would be diametrically different results."
