Demographics Show Vegas (and Gaming) Getting Younger - AdobeStock 73188120

For obvious reasons, the LVCVA didn’t release a visitor profile survey for 2020, but it did recently issue a 2021 midyear report which reviewed a lot of the same metrics usually covered in the annual.

The report can be found here, and we’d recommend taking a deeper look at some of the spend patterns, gambling intent, visitation methods, etc.

One thing we found to be fairly interesting though not entirely surprising, was the visitation mix which skewed a lot younger in 2021.

Covid was obviously a factor behind this but given that the amenities were fairly limited for much of the survey period (March – June), we find it encouraging that the under 40 crowd was such a big driver of visitation at the same time GGR had performed quite well on the Strip.

This younger demo shift is not just a Vegas phenomenon - we’ve been discussing the shift in regional gaming customers post Covid.

There are a lot of fundamental changes to casino business that should prove secular, but for the top line potential, few factors are as powerful as this demographic shift.
