HeadlineFacebook was getting sensitive data from apps without the user’s permission.

Takeaway: Facebook was receiving sensitive data from several health-related apps without the user’s permission. The data transfer occurred through a snippet of code known as a software development kit without providing users notice or obtaining consent. Facebook would then match the app users’ sensitive data to their social media accounts, allowing the developers to target ads at them.

Headline: Justin Bieber’s TikTok concert reaches 4 million people.

    Takeaway
: Justin Bieber’s Valentine’s Day partnership with TikTok for a full-length live performance, “Journals live from the Drew house,” drew more than 4 million unique views. According to the company, the event, which was the social media app’s first-ever full-length single-artist live performance, was the most-viewed live stream in TikTok history. The concert expands upon the “Streamed” concerts that have grown popular due to COVID, with Travis Scott and Post Malone putting on shows on different mediums. Bieber’s concert also proves the power of TikTok and that it is more than just a short-form video app.
